A downloadable solo ttrpg

You have come to a small mining town with some backstory of varying importance and a goal in your heart. Take up your pickaxe and go down into the depths, for a wish requires sacrifice to come true. And perhaps you've heard whispers that ruins lie below the surface—old, sacred places that ought not be disturbed—but who cares about that when there is money to be made and treasures to be found? So hold on to your comfort and swing your pickaxe true, miner, for whatever problems there are to be found in the dark underground...they're yours now.

Plutonic Yearning is a solo tabletop roleplaying game where you play as a miner going underground alone to see what they can find and hopefully make their goal happen. You will roll dice, draw a map on a grid, and try your best to avoid disaster. Build ladders and support beams as you go and manage your comfort because you can't mine well if you don't feel well.

⛏ Simple stat and skill system with progression. Your 3 main stats (Willpower, Strength, and Intelligence) are added together to form your skills. Roll your skill value or lower on a d20 to succeed in a check. The more you mine, the better you get at it.

⛏ Resource management. As you mine, you must eat, drink, sleep, and have enough light to stay comfortable and keep the good work going. If you don't, you risk becoming weakened and getting penalties of increasing severity. Plus, the aforementioned ladders and beams must be placed—and sometimes they fail in catastrophic ways.

⛏ Grid-based map. You can mine horizontally through your current rock layer, or down to reach different layers. This, as well as your ladder/beam placement, is drawn on a grid that grows the further you mine.

⛏ A "clink-clank" system for mining by using d6's. Dramatically roll a bunch of d6's each turn to see how many clinks you get towards successfully mining through the rock, or clanks which indicate that the type of rock you're digging through has changed.

⛏ Downtime. You must periodically return to the surface to sell what you've found, restock supplies, study up on geology, rest, and see some sunlight.
